Madras Print

Another weekend outfit! I think madras print (and gingham and seersucker) is so much fun to wear during the warmer months, just like tartan is fun for the holiday season. I've been searching around for another madras shirt that is in my price range, but no luck yet. Maybe I'll get lucky and find one at the thrift store.

I did a search today on J. Crew's site for madras. 19 items turned up for men, but nothing for women! Did I miss something? When did this boy shirt in ikat madras come out?

 Last year I purchased the perfect shirt in schoolboy madras. I will have to start wearing it again soon. 


Land's End has a couple of cute madras dresses on sale right now, but they are still not in my price range.

Old Navy also has some cute madras print items. I almost bought the shirt, but it ended up being too sheer for my liking. I haven't seen the scarf yet.

    I was going to recommend to you the j crew ikat madras boy shirt, then scrolled down and saw you'd posted a question about it. It came out last summer. I somehow missed it then, and was very sad, but there's now an identical-looking factory version. I picked it up in store today, where it was 40% off plus my 15% off teacher discount, making it about $30... Not too bad! It doesn't look like they have the same promo online, unfortunately. Hopefully you have a store nearby to check out!

      That's great that you found a Factory version! I don't live close to a Factory store, so I will have to keep on the lookout on the website. Thanks for letting me know. It seems like madras can be hard to find. :) Maybe I'll get lucky on eBay.

  2. I like madras a lot too. I have two J.Crew blazers in this fabric. One with a navy blue base and another with a deep orange base. Love them. I carried my 2 J.Crew madras tote bags and 2 purses around England for a few years while living there and everyone wanted to know where I got them....I still use all 4 bags.

  3. I am anxious to see you wear the J crew schoolboy madras shirt from last year (pictured in your above post). I own the same shirt but have yet to wear it! Hoping for some inspiration!

    1. Hi TC! I did have a difficult time figuring out how to wear it last summer. I'm thinking maybe Nantucket red, navy, or white shorts?! We'll see! Let me know how you decide to wear it!
